I love ordering fish tacos, the crispy fried batter, the citrus of the lime, it’s like magic! However, I don’t love that I have to go to a restaurant to get them. I always thought that recreating these tasty tacos called for a deep fryer or a whole bottle of oil. I am here to tell you, that isn’t the case, you can make these tasty fish tacos at home!
Now, Tilapia is budget-friendly fish that holds up well when frying. Tilapia has Omega 6 fats and helps keep your cholesterol low. This recipe is going to give a light fry to the fish, no greasy mess!
The special twist to this dish is going to be the Ghost Pepper. Ghost Pepper in the top 3 hottest peppers, with a Scoville Scale rating of 1,041,427 SHU! Ingredients
Fish Fry

4 pieces Tilapia Fillet

2 tbsp Taco Seasoning

6 Flour or Corn Tortilla

3 tbsp Oil
For Slaw
-
5 oz Red Cabbage grated

2 pieces Carrot grated
-
1/4 cup Onion minced
-
1 Handful of Coriander
-
1/2 Lime (keep the other half for dressing)

1/4 tbsp Mayonnaise
-
1 pinch Salt
-
1 pinch Pepper
Chipotle Dressing
Directions
Instructions for Slaw
Add all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and give a good mix.
Taste to see if you need more seasonings. Set aside in the fridge until needed.
Instruction for Dressing
Add all ingredients within a small bowl and mix well.
Taste to see if you need more Ghost Pepper Powder or salt. Set aside in the fridge until needed.
Instructions for Fish
Season all fish with taco seasoning on both sides.
Heat 3 tbsp oil in a medium pan over medium heat. Pan-fry fish for 2-3 minutes per side or until fish is cooked through.
Remove from heat and cut to small pieces.
Assemble Taco
Heat tortilla in a clean pan for 1 minute per side over medium heat.
Remove from stove and topped with fish, slaw, chipotle dressing, and more coriander and lime of desired.
